The challenges of binge drinking by young people have become more serious in recent years. The Rutland Centre are running a series of lectures and workshops to help parents deal with these issues. They are as follows: Young People in Distress—Drinking to Excess: Public lecture on Thursday September 21st at 7.30pm at the Milltown Park Conference Centre (Jesuit Institute), Sandford Road, Ranelagh. This will be followed by a workshop for parents of young people in trouble with binge drinking, the following day, Friday 22 September, on the grounds of the Ruthland Centre in Knocklyon. This workshop is called: Tipping the Balance in Favour of Recovery: This workshop will include practical information about what to do and what not to do when confronting the issue at home. The workshop will run from 2.00pm to 4.00 pm. Other Addiction Awareness Week events: “Women Wine and Wasted Lives” : Wednesday 27th September at 7.30pm.
